Booth Evangelism

Booth at a local community days is a great way to share the gospel with your local community.  This is an outreach that you will be asked to return each year.  You can have hundreds of conversations with people in your neighborhood and invite them to a bible study or church after the booth.  We have had lines of people waiting to take the good person test.  This is a great community outreach.  You can plan a weekly Bible Study to start the week after your booth and after you take people through the good person test sign them up for the Bible Study or invite people to your church.
Needed:
  • Look on the internet for local community days. Search on Google for community days or go to the website of each of the local communities and see what festivals they have. In the Pittsburgh area they are called Community Days.
  • Call the community and find out how to get a booth. Ask for details like will they provide the booth and the size the booth is allowed to be. How early can you get there to start setting up and any rules that they may have. After you have done one you will want to do many of them so you will want to obey the rules so you get asked back to them.
  • Some booths you have to pay for and some you can get for free since you are a non-profit. Sometimes you can work at the event and get to have the booth for free.
  • You may have to raise money for the booth.
  • Ask the head of the moms (MOPS, Women’s Bible Studies,…) to ask women to donate the unwanted stuffed animals that they have that are in good shape. I have done 2 years worth of booths based on donations of unwanted stuffed animals. Tell them that you will always be in need and to tell all the women that they know. Call all the churches in the area and tell them the same thing. You will end up needing a place to store the stuffed animals. I give away about 4-6 garbage bags full of stuffed animals each time. That is with one of the bags being full of beanie babies.
  • You might need to buy a canopy. I have been at festivals that provide a canopy and I have been at ones that you bring your own. A 12X12 Canopy is the best since you will have more room to talk to people in the booth. You can buy these at Lowes or home Depot. It will cost from $100 to $200. I have a 10x10 but I have used a 12x12 and it is much better for people to come in and talk.
  • It is nice to have at least 4 people to run the booth for the day.
  • The booth normally takes about 2 hours to setup the first time you do it.
  • You will need 1 table that is 8-10 feet long. You can buy these at walmart. You will want one that folds up. It will cost about $60
  • You might want a table 2X4feet on the side. I drill two holes on the side of the table top and attach our CCN banner to the side of this table with 2 sheet metal screws.
  • You will want to buy a large banner the same size of your 8-10 foot table that you can screw into your table. The Banner will be white with the words the same color as your canopy saying “FREE GOOD PERSON TEST” although mine just says “GOOD PERSON TEST” I had mine made at Sign-A-Rama for $150. You could probably make one out of paper and paint it on but it would only last you for one booth and you would have to make a new one each time.
  • You will take a drill and drill holes on the table in the 3 places on the table where the grommets are on the Good Person Test sign and then you use ½ inch sheet medal screws to screw it to the table. I put the sign on and off at the Booth location each time. This way I can protect the banner. I also store the vinal banners under by bed so they do not get used to being rolled up. I transport them rolled up though.
  • Aprons – Having matching Aprons is good so that people know who is with the booth. It is also nice so you can have pens and paper and tracts and Bibles on your person. If you want I would thing that matching shirts would be great too. I have an apron for each person that is helping with the booth.
    • You can go to a print shop and see if they can put the words on the apron. you can get Iron on letters and iron them on.
    • Buy a plain white apron for each person with at least 2 pockets from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are about $14 each.
How to paint your apron or T-Shirts
    • Buy fabric paint the same color as the canopy and hopefully the same color as the Good Person Test words on your banner.
    • Need a plastic bowl or paint pallet or Styrofoam plate.
    • Buy stencils with capital letters about 2 inches in size.
    • Tape together the Capital letters to say “Good Person Test”
    • Buy ¾ inch round paint brush and put rubber band around brush to make it stiff or stencil painting brush
    • Line up the new stencil on the apron and tape it to the apron
    • Squeeze fabric paint onto plastic disposable bowl
    • Put paint onto brush and tap up and down on the stencil to paint the apron
    • Take off the stencil and let it dry and then repeat on next apron.
  • Duck Tape, Cable Ties, scissors and Carabineers are things you always want to bring with you.
  • Holders for stuffed animals or Hats(local big teams – aka Steelers, Mets, Giants…)
  • For across the front of the canapy you can use a Laundry rope, You can buy this at Walmart, You will also want to buy large clips that are normally used to hold 25-50 pieces of paper, zip ties Then you put about 30 of those clips through the rope and then you can put little stuffed animals on the clips before you get to the booth on the day you setup and you try the rope to the top fronts of the canopy and then every 10 clips you put zip ties on the rope and use that to tie it up to the canopy so that the rope does not hand to low in the middle.
  • Holder for large stuffed animals – go to Lowes and buy large black containers in the pond section that is supposed to be for creating a small little pond. They are about 20 inches wide. Buy 2 of them. They are about $20. They are black plastic. These you will sit in front of the canopy in the front . You put one on each side.
  • You could use large baskets for this as well.
  • Holder for stuffed animals up and down the front of the canopy along the sides.
    • Buy 2 more laundry drying ropes from walmart. The softer rope is better for the tying the loops either cotton or nylon. Feel the rope and if it does not feel soft you have the wrong stuff and the tying of the loops will be hard. The rope that feels like plastic does not work well.
    • Each one should be about 12 foot long so that you can fold them in half and hang them from the canopy corner with a few zip ties.
    • Large clips and or smaller clips. I have both on the line.
    • Put the clips on the rope
    • Tie loops in the ropes every 3 inches around a large clips
    • Do not cut the rope until after you have tied all the loops. The loops take up a lot of rope.
    • Attach rope folded in half using zip ties to the canopy.
    • Attach stuffed animals the night before to the ropes so that it will not take as much time the day of the booth.
    •  I always lay the ropes across the back seat of my truck so that I do not have to untangle them when I get to the boot setup.

  • Buy vinals for good person test. See the document flip chart. I took that to Sign-A-Rama and bought 2 the first time. Each one cost me $42 to print out in 3’x2’. You might want to have them printed out 2 ½ foot long instead of 3foot and then you could use another PVC stand like you created above and drill holes in the PVC to attach the clip chart vinalys to the stand with 2 inch 3/8 bolts and butterfly nuts.
  •  I bought a clip board stand from Office Depot for about $70. I have a 2inch x 1 inch 36 inch long piece of wood. I drilled holes in the wood for the pegs in the top of the paper holder. Then I drilled holes in the end of the wood where the grommets on the vinals are. I bought 2 inch bolts with butterfly nuts to hold them on the wood. You might be able to use a Yard Stick for this purpose. I would use 2 of them. 1 for the outside and 1 for the inside and maybe paint the yardstick on the front side. You would have to drill the holes in both yard sticks. This yard stick would help you when flipping the vinalys on the clip board stand.
  • You will want to use a carabineer to attach a backpack full of tracts or to something so when the wind blows it does not fallover.
  • Create board with IQ tests- Take the scotty_jen_flipchart.ppt to UPS store and have them print out 6 of the IQ slides as 11x17. Tell them you want them to print them so the fill up the entire 11x18. It may take them a few prints to get it correct. You tape those to one of those 3 way folding display boards that you buy from Walmart. I hang it up with Velcro to a PVC stand that I made.
  • You will want to strap this to something since the wind really takes ahold of this. I normally use cable ties to connect it to the booth so it does not fly away.
  • Tape a card to the back of the 3 fold display board with the answers to the IQ test on it. This will help when you are nervious or for other people helping you with the booth that do not know the answers. Anyone that is new will want to come early so that you can go over the IQ tests with the ahead of time since this is a huge draw to the booth. You could also do a board with pictures of famous people and say Who is This on top.
  •  To create the stand you buy 5 pieces of ¾ inch PVC pipe. This will come in a bundle this way. You buy 6 of the pieces you see in the picture below. 6 ¾ elbows and 6 ¾ T connectors. It is cheaper to buy them in the packets of several so you might buy 8 but it is normally cheaper that way.
  • Then you cut each of the PVC pipes in half and 2 of those halfs you cut in half again. Then you can put velcow on 1 side of 4 of the T connectors. Then you put it together like this
  • Hold up the tri fold display board and put the other side of the Velcro on there. The Velcro you buy at Lowes in big strips and it is very sticky like tape on the other side of each side of Velcro.
  • This stand costs about $15 to create and I put it in a fold up chair bag so that it is easy to carry.
  • Buy table cloths for tables that matches the canopy. You can buy those cheep plastic ones from walmart or the Dollar Store in the party section.
  •  I have many different kinds of tracts spread across the smaller table
  • I have Bibles and tracts and booklets on the bigger table.
  • On days that it is windy I use the booklets to lay on the corners or part of the tracts.
  • People like to browse the different kids of tracts. I have ones from the example packs so there is a nice variety or you might have many from this or that time you went out that are not the same as others.
  • To help with the wind buy 4 buckest and fill them with concret and put hooks sticking out of the top.  Bring them to tie down your canopy if the wind picks up.  I have had days where everyone working the booth was holding onto a side to keep the booth from flying away.
How to run the booth.
Rules that everyone must agree to:
1. If a team member is talking to a person do not interrupt unless the person asks you to help out in the witnessing.
2. No discussing the non essentials at the booth. If you want to talk about those then go to lunch with that person on another day to talk about them.
3. Before anyone leaves the booth they have to tell you.
4. No one should be at the booth that you have not gone out witnessing with or have agreed that Biblical Evangelism is correct.  You do not want in fighting during the booth.
5. Everyone has to agree that Way of the Master is acceptable way to witness.
6. Tell them that if you tap them on the shoulder 2 times that means that they have to walk away from the conversation. This is so if there are arguments you can step in and stop them. You might think this will never happen but it does so be prepared.
7. Have a church in the area that you have a booth in so you have a place to send people that you witness to.
8. Have copies of the CD Hells best kept secret and True and False conversions. Hand these to people that are Christians that have issues with what you are doing. You write your email address on the cd and say email me after you have listened to this because now is not the time to discuss this. Say thank you and good bye. Tell the CD explains everything.
Running the booth:
  • It is good to have a person stand out front of the booth and hand out tracts and ask people if they want to take the good person test. As people start talking to others this person will normally and naturally just change around.
  • Under the IQ test sign I like to have a small table or bin or stool that has the tracts that look just like the IQ tests so that people and take them home to show others.
  • If people are looking at the IQ Test then I go over and talk them all through the IQ tests and they normally have lots of fun with that then I ask would you like to take a good person test for a price it is free. I tend to do all of this a little loud and it normally ends up to be a small open air. This is not a full on open air voice but pretty loud.
  • Having all the stuffed animals will attract kids and I have found that if you do not want to have issues then you should not witness to kids under the age of 12. If kids younger than that come to your table I ask them to go get their parents to take the good person test and then if the parent lets the kids take the test then that is fine.
  • We found that we like to have the good person test table in the back of the booth so that people can come into the booth to talk. And browse.
  • We have also found that if you have the stuffed animals hanging across the front of the booth you will want to leave a part open that a person can walk in.
  • Ask people would you like to take the good person test? It is free and if you pass the test or fail you will a prize either way. You take the person through the test and then give the prize as a gift and explain that the prize was not earned but it resembles grace. You can not earn it and you don’t deserve it but it is a gift.
  • We always try to have everyone walk away with a stuffed animal and at least a tract if not a Bible and a booklet too.
  • The evolution signs and celebrity “guess who this is?” are also wonderful. I normally have the good person magnet tests at the table and people love to play with them. The table is always filled with tons of different kinds of tracts.
Bring these things just incase:
  • Rope
  • Cement blocks to tie the canopy to so when the wind blows
  • Clear plastic that you get in the painting section to put over your table if it rains and to put over your stuffed animals.
  • Bins – I put all the booth stuff in bins and then store the bins under the tables that way the bins are always ready and packed and can be put away easily.
  • A dolly to get everything to the location is always a good thing.
  • Cooler full of pop and water
  • A chair or two for when you take a break.
  • A snack for when you are hungry and cannot get away from the booth.
  • Umbrella
  • Ponchos
  • Duck tape – it is good for so many things
  • Balloons – I put up balloons on the canopy to make it festive

Students sharing their faith

Another semester over and God did many wonderful things this month.  Our Bible Study grew this month.  Here are some of the students that attend the CCN Bible Study at SRU.  I had Matt and Zane join me at SRU one day in April and they open aired on the campus.  We had a silent witness protest which was interesting because the protest is supposed to be about hate speech.  However, we never mentioned homosexuality.  We never said anything hateful.  In fact Matt spent the first 5 minutes of the protest explaining that he loved them.  They refused to face the person that was preaching and they would not answer questions or speak.  It interesting thing is that they draw a huge crowd for people to hear the gospel.  They think they are hindering the gospel but really they are gathering a crowd to hear the gospel.  Here is a picture of Matt walking around to the other side to see if they will turn their backs on him again.

You can see the face of one of the young ladies and her name is Ally.  I witnessed to her the day before this.  I gave her a million dollar bill and she said that she is having a bad day every time she sees me.  I asked her if she was a good person.  I asked her if she had told a lie, stolen anything.  I told her that if you lust after a person God sees that as adultery and if you hate a person you have murdered them in your heart.  I explained that she would stand before God one day and he would judge her for each time she broke Gods law.  I then explained that God was rich in mercy and died on the cross in her place if she would repent and trust Jesus paid the fine for her.  Jesus rose from the grave 3 days later because death could not hold him since he never sinned.  I  prayed for her.  I gave her a big hug and she thanked me.  To see her the very next day protesting the gospel was very interesting.  After the preaching was over she walked over and talked to us.  She said that we were very loving and that she appreciated the message that was given.

One of my students at SRU was so moved by the protest the he got up and open air'd on campus.  Those that professed to be atheists clapped after he was done sharing his faith.  They thought it took real boldness for a SRU student to get up in such a climate and say that they believe in the truth of the Bible.
Another young man named Josh stopped by after the preaching.  He saw the 180movie.com sticker on the preaching box and stopped to say what a great movie that was.  I told him that I had organized the group on campus that handed those out.  He was like the group that had different stations around campus?  I said yes.  He said did you hand out EvolutionvsGod DVD too.  I said I had organized that outreach as well.  He reached into his bag and asked if I had handed out "God has a wonderful plan" as well.  I said that I had since the larger version of that book is how I got saved.  Josh said that book revolutionized everything for him.  Because of that book he paid for the Online School of Biblical Evangelism and was on lesson 40.  I told him that I was going over that in Bible Study on Wednesdays and he was very excited.  He brought friends with him to Bible Study.

This past week he went out witnessing with me at SRU and here is him witnessing to fellow students on campus.  He said he had wanted to share his faith but was too nervous to start it out.  He thanked me for pushing him to share his faith.  Josh was excited that he would be able to followup with the students that he had talked to and excited that it was so easy to start conversations about Jesus.   Here is Josh witnessing on the right.

We had an intern this semester.  Here you can see Matt teaching the Bible Study.  At CCN we want to teach the students to be able to do all the things that the Campus Leader can do.  Matt wrote up Bible studies this semester and he taught one.  He did a great job.  His advisor was very happy with the internship.

I also joined Matt and Zane at a few other campuses this semester.  I went to IUP and to University of California with them.  Both campuses were great since they do not weekly get gospel tracts.  I was able to witness 1 - 2 - 1 to at least 20 people at each campus.  It was wonderful to have fellowship of sharing your faith with Matt and Zane.

The gentleman in the picture above believed that he was going to go to heaven because he was serving his country as a soldier.  I thanked him for doing so but explained that his sin would keep him out of heaven and that all of his good deeds could not make up for all of his sins.  He was interested in the gospel.  Pray that he repents and puts his faith that Jesus is fully God and full man.  That Jesus lived a perfect life and never broke any of the 10 commandments.  Jesus allowed himself to die on the cross for the sins of those that repent and trust him.  Then 3 days later Jesus rose from the grave.
Also pray for all of the people that heard the gospel this month.  Pray that the students that protested listened to the message of love that was preached to them.

Bubble Recipe

You need 12 cups of water +1 cup of dish soap + 1 cup corn starch + 2 tablespoons baking power

Put the ingredients into a clean bucket in that order above. You need a spatula to stir the mixture and to take off the foam off the top of the mixture. The foam will ruin the bubbles. I use my own bubble blower which is 2 PVC pipes. The rope is a cotton rope that I pulled apart and I put a knot in the bottom. I used a table saw to cut the slat holes in the ends of the PVC pipes to tie the string on.

Bubbles are water with Air Blown into them.  We are mud that God blew life into.  Would you consider yourself a good piece of Mud that God blew life into? Are you good enough to go to Heaven? Let’s see... Ever told a lie? Ever stolen anything? Ever used God's name in vain? Ever looked with lust? Jesus said "Whosoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Listen to your conscience. If you are guilty of these then God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. That means eternity in hell.
Picture yourself in a courtroom guilty of many serious crimes. The Judge sentences you to life in prison or a million dollar fine. As the guard leads you away, someone you don't even know comes in and pays your fine in full. That means you are free to go! How would you feel about that person? That's what Jesus did for you 2,000 years ago. He took your punishment upon Himself by taking God’s wrath on the cross. Then He rose from the grave – defeating death.
The Bible says: "God commends his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Repent (turn from sin) and put your trust in Jesus Christ to save you today. God will grant you eternal life. Don't wait until tomorrow... You may not have another day. Read your Bible daily and obey what you read.

You could go to www. bubblething.com to buy one.  I do not benefit from you buying anything from there.

Gratitude

"Knowing the fear of the Lord we persuade men." 2 Chro 5:11

I am grateful for what God has done for me. God wrote the 10 commandments in Stone showing us that the law is unchanging and that these rules where very important. They were important enough that he wrote them down himself. These rules are for our own good and it is good that we should obey them. Proverbs tells us that it will go well with those that obey the law. God is just and merciful. Since God is just he must punish law breaking where it it found. If you have ever broken one of the 10 commandments, lying, stealing, hating, lusting, taking Gods name in vain, making a god of your own liking then you will be guilty on the day of Judgement. God will not clear the guilty. God is merciful. There is only 1 way a God can be merciful and Just. God sent his son who lived a perfect life and gave up his life as a sacrifice. Jesus dieing on the cross is a perfect sacrifice and it is a payment for the law breaking of those that turn away from their sin and turn toward God.
It is like you are standing in a court of law and are guilty and God send his son to run into the court room and pay your fine. You would go free not because you were innocent or good but because your fine was paid. Your fine must be paid before you die. To get your fine paid you must see sin as wretched. You have to hate law breaking. You must turn away from your sin and turn toward God. This is called repentance and faith. If you turn from 1 sin to another sin then you are not free from that sin you just exchanged sin. If a person pays your fine they are going to tell you I just paid that fine do not do that again. This is exactly what God is saying to us. Stop breaking my law since I was kind enough to pay the fine in my own sons blood.
I am so gratiful for God paying my fine that I repented of my sin and now I am warning others of the Judgement to come and being people to recieve the mercy of God by repentance and faith as well.

First Night Pittsburgh PA

We handed out over 6,000 Gospel tracts. We talked to well over 50 people in conversations. People loved the Gospel tracts. We had people coming and getting more and people coming up and asking if they could have some. There were people down town from all over the world due to the Classic Hockey Game.

I talked to 1 young man who was from India and the conversation went so very well with him. The conversation started with him telling me he was not a good Person. I went through the Law with him anyway. I asked him if he ever told a lie and he said yes. I asked him if he had ever stolen and he said that he had when he was younger. I told him that would make him a thief. I asked him if he had hated or lusted and he said that he had. I told him that would make him an adulterous murder. He still said he was not a good person. I took him to court and showed him that he was going to stand before a holy righteous and just God and and his eyes got very big.

I asked him if God Judged him by the 10 commandments if he would be innocent or guilty and he did not know what the 10 commandments were so I had to explain that those were Gods laws and that they were written on his heart and so that is one way to know that the God of the Bible is the true God. I asked him if it was wrong to murder and wrong to steal and he said yes.

I asked him if it concerned him that if he died today he would end up in hell and he said yes. I took him back to the court room and told him that the judge was about to pass sentence and he had to come up with 1 million dollars to pay his fine or go Go to prison. Someone he has never met runs into the court room and tells him that he loves him so much that he wants to pay the fine. Then he could go free not because he is good, not because he is innocent or deserves to Go free but because the law was satisfied. I explained that this is what God had done for him. God sent his only son Jesus Christ to live a perfect life to die on the cross and took the punishment that he rightly deserved. I told him that if a person paid his fine afterward the person would probably tell him not to do that again since they paid the fine and that is what Jesus is telling us. He had to repent which means to turn away from your law breaking and confess them to God and trust in Jesus and Jesus only. I told him to read the Bible and obey what it said.

I asked him if he believed this and he said yes. I gave him a bag with a Bible, a ESV New Testament, the DVD "The Big Question" , The Good person Gospel tract and a CD with Hells Best Kept Secret on it. He told me he could not pay for it and I told him it was a Gift and he thanked me.

These encounters are worth the entire evening and the expense of it all.

I hope to see you out with us soon.

Please pray for us.

What evangelism isn't

Imposition

Probably the most common objection to evangelism today is, "Isn't it wrong to impose our beliefs on others?"

Some people don't practice evangelism because they feel they are imposing on others. And the way evangelism is often done, I can understand the confusion! But when you understand what the Bible presents as evangelism, it's really not a matter of imposing your beliefs.

It's important to understand that the message you are sharing is not merely an opinion but a fact. That's why sharing the gospel can't be called an imposition, any more than a pilot can impose his belief on all his passengers that the runway is here and not there.

Additionally, the truths of the gospel are not yours, in the sense that they uniquely pertain to you or your perspective or experience, or in the sense that you came up with them. When you evangelize, you are not merely saying, "This is how I like to think of God," or "This is how I see it." You're presenting the Christian gospel. You didn't invent it, and you have no authority to alter it.

Personal Testimony

One of the classic testimonies was given by a blind man Jesus healed. When he was questioned after Jesus healed him, he responded, "Whether he [Jesus] is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!" (John 9:25). The man disregarded the menacing threats of those more honored and respected than he in order to give this verbal witness to the power of God. It's a wonderful, powerful testimony, but it's not evangelism. There is no gospel in it. The man didn't even know who Jesus was.

An account of a changed life is wonderful and inspiring thing, but it's the gospel of Jesus Christ that explains what it's all about and how it happened.

Social Action and Public Involvement

Being involved in mercy ministries may help to commend the gospel, which is why Jesus taught, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:16). Displaying God's compassion and kindness by our actions is a good and appropriate thing for Christians to do. But such actions are not evangelism. They commend the gospel, but they share it with no one. To be evangelism, the gospel must be clearly communicated, whether in written or oral form.

When our eyes fall from God to humanity, social ills replace sin, horizontal problems replace the fundamental vertical problem between us and God, winning elections eclipses winning souls.

Apologetics

Other people mistake apologetics for evangelism. Like the activities we've considered above, apologetics itself is a good thing. We are instructed by Peter to be ready to give a reason for the hope that we have (1 Pet. 3:15). And apologetics is doing exactly that. Apologetics is answering questions and objections people may have about God or Christ, or about the Bible or the message of the gospel.

Answering questions and defending parts of the good news may often be a part of conversations Christians have with non-Christians, and while that may have been a part of our own reading or thinking or talking as we came to Christ, such activity is not evangelism.

Apologetics can present wonderful opportunities for evangelism. Being willing to engage in conversations about where we came from or what's wrong with this world can be a significant way to introduce honest discussions about the gospel.

By far the greatest danger in apologetics is being distracted from the main message. Evangelism is not defending the virgin birth or defending the historicity of the resurrection. Apologetics is defending the faith, answering the questions others have about Christianity. It is responding to the agenda that others set. Evangelism, however, is following Christ's agenda, the news about him. Evangelism is the positive act of telling the good news about Jesus Christ and the way of salvation through him.

The Results of Evangelism

Finally, one of the most common and dangerous mistakes in evangelism is to misinterpret the results of evangelism—the conversion of unbelievers—for evangelism itself, which is the simple telling of the gospel message. Who can deny that much modern evangelism has become emotionally manipulative, seeking simply to cause a momentary decision of the sinner's will, yet neglecting the biblical idea that conversion is the result of the supernatural, gracious act of God toward the sinner?

When we are involved in a program in which converts are quickly counted, decisions are more likely pressed, and evangelism is gauged by its immediately obvious effect, we are involved in undermining real evangelism and real churches.

The Christian call to evangelism is a call not simply to persuade people to make decisions but rather to proclaim to them the good news of salvation in Christ, to call them to repentance, and to give God the glory for regeneration and conversion. We don't fail in our evangelism if we faithfully tell the gospel to someone who is not converted; we fail only if we don't faithfully tell the gospel at all. Evangelism itself isn't converting people; it's telling them that they need to be converted and telling them how they can be.

Mark Dever (From Christianity Today)
